Prescription Pathway

We understand the current complexities of obtaining unregistered medicine in South Africa, which is why we have developed a ‘Prescription Pathway’ to lead the way.

Step 1: Get your Prescription

Unregistered medicine can only be prescribed by a Health Practitioner listed with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Your GP can prescribe for you or you can contact a clinic that specialises in unregistered medicine treatment. You can contact a specialist clinic to assist in starting your journey.

Step 2: Order and Payment of your Prescription

We will notify you once your prescription is approved, together with the price for your monthly prescription. You can then choose how many units to take from the monthly prescription. It is not necessary to pay for your full monthly prescription upfront. You can break the monthly prescription up into smaller allotments. You can pay directly via the website using your credit/debit card; or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Step 3: Process & Delivery

Once you have paid, your medicine will be dispensed to you by our delivery team. The delivery time is between two to three business days.

About Us

Because of the time taken to register a new medicine locally, there are often situations where a patient might get substantial benefit from a medicine that, although it has been registered elsewhere in the world, but has not yet been registered in South Africa. Our medical regulator recognises this possibility and so allows for the import of unregistered medicines into South Africa, subject to the medicines being submitted to a rigorous application process, and being provided strictly in accordance with the law.

Greenways Dispensary specialises in the specialized logistics of ensuring that unregistered medicines can reach patients. Greenways has the pharmaceutical distribution licenses, knowledge and experience to ensure that these highly regulated medicines are properly and efficiently delivered to patients.

Greenways Dispensary was founded by a senior pharmaceutical executives and practicing pharmacists and is part of an existing group of respected pharmaceutical wholesale, importer and retail companies, including 16 owned community based pharmacies.  We have established an unrivalled global sourcing network of trusted suppliers – screened and approved to ensure the right product is received at the right time in the right quality.

Within the Greenways Dispensary group of companies, is held a Wholesaler’s, an Importers, and Dispensing Licenses, creating a closed-loop system in which we take care of every step of the process, from application preparation, submission and monitoring, patient and doctor updating, to importation and delivery (whether to the dispensing doctor, selected pharmacy or directly to the patient).

We can not guarantee that you will receive a refund. The decision to refund is solely at the discretion of the pharmacy manager, upon inspection of the retuned product.

If a refund is granted, it may be made as a cash refund, or an in-store credit or a credit to the card used for purchase. This will be at the discretion of the pharmacy manager.

Greenways Online Dispensary Ordering platform will improve the ease and efficiency of ordering prescribed Section 21 medicines, including convenient delivery to patients’ doors and a reminder process for repeat orders and new prescriptions.

The ordering platform has been developed to streamline the overall prescription online order and delivery process for those patients with the relevant Section 21 approvals.

Not a problem. If your doctor sends your prescription to us following your appointment and approval, then we will create your order and send out payment details by email.

As we have all of this information already, there will be no need to upload your prescription. You simply need to pay for your medicine.

Once approved, you get an automatic email to order. You can use the amount specified here and pay for your individual units and determine how many you want to buy. Attach your proof of payment (no need for prescription as your doctor would have already sent this to us).

When you reach the end of your first prescription, we will contact you by text or email to remind you that you need to book an appointment with your doctor to discuss repeat prescription.

You can also send a request to order and refill your prescription online 24/7, via the online Dispensary Shop, accessible only via the IntroCann Portal.
